to me
Thank you very much for your work on this map. I live in Truckee (Nevada County) and I previously lived in the Tahoe Basin (Placer County) for 11 years.

I strongly urge you to include the Tahoe Basin (cities of Tahoe City, Carnelian Bay, Kings Beach, Homewood, Tahoma and South Lake Tahoe) in the “Placer-Sac” district.

Truckee and the Tahoe Basin are inextricably connected by the economic driver of tourism, and the environmental concerns of Lake Tahoe and the Truckee River watershed, one of the most delicate and unique watersheds in the nation. There is a reason why everything here is named “Tahoe-Truckee”; we are one community of interest, and heavily interdependent, both on a structural and cultural level.

We have very little, if any connection, to Plumas and Sierra Counties, on the other hand.

Truckee and Tahoe must share responsibility for:
– optimizing tourism and second homeownership while protecting our resources
– supporting new construction responsibly
– providing affordable housing for tourism, service and construction industry workers
– working with with the United States Forest Service on an ongoing basis
– protecting the Truckee River watershed, which enters Lake Tahoe in South Lake and exits in Tahoe City on the North Shore, then proceeding to Truckee. It then provides water and resources for Reno and the Paiute tribe at Pyramid Lake.

Please: the decision was made ten years ago that Truckee and Tahoe belong together in a congressional district. I beg you to uphold that important decision, rather than moving us backwards.
